The Programme started at 11:35am
with first and second stanza of the National Anthem of Federal Republic of
Nigeria. Mr Adebusuyi Olutayo Olumadewa –founder and director of Programmes introduce
the speakers and welcome all delegates from Ministry of Youths and Social
Development as well as the students of Yaba College of Technology to the
auspice event. He share the vision of the organization which is to help youths
to find their voice and create a platform for the voices to be amplified which is the reason for investing time,
energy into making the youths to be the change.
The first Speaker Mr Olabisi Salau –
Managing Director of FortWeddel Investments presentations on “The Making of
Your Potential” inspires courage in the delegate to move from their comfort
zone and start what they have been thinking of starting. He took the delegates
through the need to identify their potentials and why potential is the key
thing to develop in order to be more relevant in today’s world.
Mrs Afolake Salau –Director- Grande Esprit
presentation on “Commercializing Your Potentials” inspires the delegates never
to despise the days of little beginning. She shared her story on how she
started a crèche which is now a school. She encourages everyone present to look
inward and come out of their comfort zone.
After the two presentations,
delegates were treated to a light entertainment of music by triple TTT a
student of Yaba College of Technology.
The third presentation by Peter
Oshinoiki- Managing Director of PaisPlus Group took the delegates to another
world. My Oshinoiki spoke on Identify, discover and deploy your potential. He
shared his story how he started an oat business with 23
pieces given to him by his uncle and
how the business has grown to become a factory in Nigeria. He explains the need
for young people to identify their potential through their keen sight in
recognizing ideas of exceptional merit with problem solving as the main
objective. He gave an example of how he chose to solve a problem for a client
that has resulted in buying a land for himself and making fortunes out of it. He
also enumerated the reason why it is important to have integrity which is a
social capital. He encourages the delegate to work on their social capital
which can help them in getting to the top.
At the end of the presentations, a
general question and answer session was conducted and the delegates asked
various questions, which they directed at specific speakers to further enhance
their understanding, boost their ability and whet their curiosity. The
facilitators gladly answered all questions and were willing to go the extra
mile even when the programme ended. The programme ended with attestation of
signatures on the Responsibility board from DoTheDream Youth Development Initiative.
