The National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), in line with its vision of bringing good and affordable health care services to Nigerians, has gone into a strategic partnership with Salt and Einstein MTS, the mobile insurance services aggregator and African leading telecommunications and ICT Company MTN, to launch first-of-its-kind mobile health insurance scheme tagged: MTN Y’ello Health.
This new scheme was unveiled on Monday 21th of July, 2014, at Civic Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos.
Speaking at the event, the Chief Executive Officer, MTN Nigeria, Michael Ikpoki, said:
“At MTN, we believe that health insurance contributes to removing the financial barriers to healthcare, giving people unrestricted access to good health care without having to pay out-of-pocket. More than bringing flexibility and ease to paying for health care service, health insurance is also a means of providing greater access to healthcare for larger segments of a population. Indeed we believe health insurance is imperative for closing the gap between the availability of health care service and the ability of the citizenry to access it”.
