STOP FOLLOWING ANY LEADER WHO IS NOT OPEN TO CHANGE- BY OLUMADEWA ADEBUSUYI OLUTAYO

“Billionaires don’t care what the odds are. We don’t listen to common sense; do what’s conventional or expected. We follow our vision, no matter how crazy or idiotic other people think it is.”
Donald .J.Trump
Change
The greatest asset on earth is human being but they can also be the greatest liability. When we don’t understand our assignment we become a liability to our world but when we understand our assignment on the phase of the earth we become a solution that will live, learn, love and leave the legacy for the entire world too run with.

A dark tall young man in his forties is the man I was introduced to by a friend. A dynamic personality with sharp intellect coupled with charisma, whose love for the youths inspires him to contest for the office. But on this faithful day, my friend introduces me as Tayo Olumadewa to him and he introduces himself calling his name and his position as well as many titles he was occupying. In the cause of exchanging pleasantries, he was feeling superior and was expecting me to prostrate for him because he happens to be the house of assembly member representing my state in Federal Republic of Nigeria. He said it in parable and I got it. After all you are from the part of the country in which the tradition is to prostrate to your leader. If you are talking to your leader, you must be on your knees and you must always listen to everything they say and not question him. But to his great surprise, he met someone who could walk tall and tell him to his face what he does not want to hear. He became offended because I told him of the real reason for living as against making his position the reason for living. It is important we understand this, when position or possession became the surrogate for the real reason we are living, our identity is tied to things we want to eat. Who we are is tied to power so that we can oppress the helpless and crush those that question our authority. We suddenly became superior and we put on our bird eye look believing that we are the most high.  I advice him to embrace change in order to serve people more. For example, of what use is importing million of typewriter at low cost price, when no one is working with typewriter anymore. Whether the price is friendly or unfriendly, it is of no use to the people.

Change is constant. People do not like to change. They prefer to follow the status quo. They do not like change because of the pain it brings. Maybe they do not know how, they just don’t like change. It seems people do not understand the importance of change to their personal lives and that is the reason they do not want to change. Apart from the pain change will bring, its importance should be communicated so that man will understand the reason to constantly improve and challenge the status quo. People need to know that they are the change the world is waiting for. You have to understand that you are relevant to the world. You are born for a reason to become the solution to the world which makes you the change the world is praying for. You have to be a blessing to the world which is what makes you the change. When you understand the reason for the change which is you becoming the answer that will command the admiration of the entire world, the words of General of the Air Force Henry H.Arnold that “The principles of yesterday no longer apply ..... We must think in terms of tomorrow. We must bear in mind that air power itself can become obsolete” will give us more reason for continuous improvement in order to become relevant and be the change that will recreate the world.

Dr Covey said “Everything is changing and not only is changing; it is changing on the accelerating rate.” What was working some years ago is no longer working now because of the change. You have a new challenge; the old ways of solving challenges will no longer solve the present challenge. The new challenge requires a new successful practice. The nature of new challenges is constant continuous improvement of mental upgrading in order to create the change. It is called the Kaizen Principle which is continuous improvement.
Be the change

Becoming the change is you taking your responsibility in becoming the solution the world is praying for. It is you abandoning the bird eye look to feel what people feel in order to be a blessing to their world. It is you functioning from a mountain top by seeing things the way it should be not the way they are. This will instigate your thinking in becoming the answer to the situation. This is where Self Transcendence begins knowing that you are the blessing that the world needs. This is the real freedom that many are longing for.

In Africa, where a culture of devaluation is what many are practicing, leaving the most important things for irrelevant things, making people to put their trust in money and not  God that made the money  thereby making many individuals who should have been the change to lose their voice all because of what the environment teaches  which leads to selfishness. It is important to keep the focus and be the one that will change the world. The definition of success in this part of the world as material acquisition has contributed to the gross diminishing of the values that will have made many become the solution. This produces the selfishness in the world, making man to focus of their tiny world and neglecting the real reason for which they are living. The extent of selfishness in people has gotten to the extent that man is being selfish to himself. They deny themselves that right of the greatness God has given them and the ability that would have recreated the world. They ignore the most important things and focus their attention on the irrelevant things because of their selfish attitude which is contagious because of their myopic eyes. Because of their dull sight in recognizing and understanding the essence of living, their definition of success is material acquisition. Their focus is on what they can gain not what they can give. They are those with a mentality of what’s in it for me? Remember what Brian Tracy said- "Successful people are always looking for opportunities to help others. Unsuccessful people are always asking, 'What's in it for me?. Somebody once said that no one is more deceived than a selfish person, what you do for yourself stays with you but what you do for others is eternal. This is you becoming an extraordinary personality that will leave the world better than he met it

Embrace Change
“If you refuse to change, you will be grounded by the same change”
All around the world, change is in the air. You can smell it, you can feel it, and you can touch it. But then, we should not be under any illusion that change ever comes easy, or on a platter of gold. It is like circumcision, which is usually accompanied with aches and pains. We desire change, we hanker for it, pant for it as the hart pants after the water brook.  Ty Boyd said “Things turn out best for the people who make the best of the way things turn out”. —When a season is over, learn to allow it to go. Embrace the change that will make you the instrument in the hand of God. “What was good for the past was good for the past.” - Joel Osteen” We do our best that we know how at the moment, and if it doesn't turn out, we modify it." - Franklin Delano Roosevelt
