Call on world leaders to fully fund education world-wide

Global Citizens took over 75,000 actions in support for education for all, and called on world leaders to fund the Global Partnership for Education - the only multilateral partnership dedicated to putting primary-aged children into school for quality education.
Despite the UN Millennium Development Goal to put every child in school by 2015, 57 million children remain without access to basic primary education.
Our government leaders have the power to respond to this education emergency today. UNESCO estimates that it will cost $26 billion to put every child in school by 2015. This is a critical opportunity to achieve a breakthrough in universal provision of high quality primary education. Alice Albright, CEO of the Global Partnership for Education, announced plans to raise billions of dollars as part of its second replenishment campaign to help educate 57 million children who are currently not in school.  The message was echoed with supporting video messages from Denmark's Minister for Development Cooperation Christian Friis Bach, Afghanistan Minister of Education HE Farooq Wardak, US Congressman Charlie Dent and US Congressman Chaka Fattah.
Educating children is one of the biggest steps we can take toward ending extreme poverty. Education is key to building a society that can overcome poverty in a sustainable manner. Investing in human capital brings about powerful social change and creates opportunities for those in developing countries to realize their full potential and to become leaders of the generation to come.
We know what it takes and how much it will cost - all we need now is the commitment and leadership from world leaders. Join us at the Global Citizen Festival - in partnership with the UN Special Envoy for Education and A World at School Initiative - to call on our leaders to increase financial support for The Global Partnership for Education so we can ensure 57 million children are put in school and have the opportunity to live healthy, prosperous and empowered lives.
Sign the petition now to call on our leaders to pledge the billions of dollars needed to fully fund the important work of the Global Partnership for Education.
