Ekiti to establish N750m school of agriculture
Ado-Ekiti - The Ekiti Government will soon establish a school of
agriculture at a cost of N750 million, Mr Fola Folorunso, the Permanent
Secretary, Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, has said.
Folorunso made this known in Ado-Ekiti on Tuesday at a media briefing
where he presented the detailed analysis of the 2013 budget.He
said the move to establish the school was top encourage youths to
embrace agriculture and provide job opportunities for the citizenry.
Besides, he said the government's policy was to also improve the revenue base of government in order for it to be able to finance other areas of priorities begging for attention.According to him, the 2013 budget was targeted at empowering the citizens of the state as part of the government's determination to eradicate poverty. He vowed that government would put all machinery in motion to ensure the realisation of the N15.7 billion internally generated revenue target for 2013.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that the budget christened, “Budget of Empowerment and Consolidation, ” was signed into law by Gov. Kayode Fayemi on Dec. 31, 2012, after its passage by the state House of Assembly.While presenting the budget to the Assembly on Dec. 6, 2012, the governor had forwarded N93,616,830,001 made up of N46,416,141,231 for recurrent expenditure and N47,200,688,770 for capital expenditure. But in approving it, the House jacked it up to N97,630,445,893 made up of N48,465,677,012 for recurrent expenditure and N49,164,768,881 for capital expenditure.
