“Fulfilment comes
when we decide to become the solution to people’s problems”
Joko

When you decide to
be the change, you will change things. The truth is that the moment you decide
to be the change is when you start living. This is when you are entering into
the place God has called you into.
Change is a journey and not the destination. Someone said, “If
there was ever a time to dare to make a difference, to embark on something
worth doing, it is now. Not for any grand cause necessarily, but for something
that tugs at your heart, something that’s your inspiration, something that’s
your dream. You owe it to yourself to make your days count. Have fun, dig deep,
stretch, dream big. Know, that all things worth doing come easy. There will be
good days, and there will be bad days. There will be times when you want to
turn it around and pack it up and call it quits. Those times tell you that you
are pushing yourself, that you are not afraid to learn trying. Persist because
with an idea, determination and the right tools, you can do great things. Let
your instincts, your intellect and your heart guide you. Trust and believe in
the incredible power of the human mind of doing something that makes a
difference, working hard, laughing and hoping, lazy afternoons, of lasting
friends and all things that will cross your path with years. The start of
something new brings the hope of something great, anything is possible”
George Washington
Carver stands out as one of the great men of his time. He was born to a slave
parent in 1860 in Diamond, Missouri. From his small laboratory on the campus of
Tuskegee Institute flowed hundreds of discoveries and products from the once
neglected peanut. From peanut, Dr Carver discovered meal, instant and dry coffee,
bleach, tar remover, wood filler, metal polish, paper ink, shaving cream,
rubbing oil, linoleum, synthetic rubber and plastics. From the soybean he
obtained flour, breakfast food, and milk. Also, his discoveries from the peanut
saved the farmers in United States from the boo-weevils which was destroying
their crops. In the early 1900s some boo-weevil migrated from South America
destroying their crops, causing pain to the farmers. Everything was done to
stop the boo weevils from destroying the crop but all efforts yielded abortive.
The farmers had no choice than to look at their crops destroyed by the boo
weevils.
Dr Carver advised the
farmers to plant peanuts. The farmers were stunned. At first, the farmers
disagreed with Dr Carver because they never believed that they could make a
living from peanuts. Since their crops were being destroyed by the tiny
insects, they decided to plant the peanut. They found out that boo weevils do
not like the taste of peanut. Due to this the insect emigrated from the farm outside
of America to another location. That was how change can change things if we
decide to allow God use us to be the change.
Dr Carver discovered many
ways in which peanuts can be used and his discovery resulted in high demand of
peanuts and the farmers made more income from the peanut than they had been
making on the their initial crops. They did not go back to their initial crops
but continued the plantation of peanuts because Dr Carver has decided to be the
change. Dr Carver’s ability to tap from his inherent birth gifts to discover
what peanut can do is what is helping many to fulfil their dreams. What if Dr
Carver refused to be the change?
Becoming the change gives
the opportunity of becoming the answer to the world. It is you getting the
vision that will impact your world with your investment. This is you realizing
the purpose of your existence. Vision is powerful. It is the reason for daily
living. It is the reason for your existence. Vision is about people. It is
about making life better for people and not about you. Vision is the tool that
drives the change. Vision is the source of recognition and the reason for
making a lasting impact in the world. Vision is the hindsight Based on
foresight. Vision is precise and it is in processes. It is what you live for,
once you have found it. Vision is the key to unlocking the inherent birth-gift
in you. Vision is borne out of a need. It is given birth to when you decide to
challenge the status quo. It is you doing what many thought cannot be done. It
is you seeing what many are not seeing. Remember, the words of Eleanor
Roosevelt said "The
future belongs to those who believe in their dreams." Because you have the
insight to see the future you believe more in it.
Finally "In any moment of decision, the best
thing you can do is the right thing. The worst thing you can do is
nothing." - Theodore Roosevelt, but remember evil prevail when good men do
nothing. You are the change.
