How To Be More True To Yourself

Define yourself on your own terms
Self definition consists of trials and errors. Discovering your inner self and trying to determine your core values takes time. But it's worthy on a long term. When you want to define yourself, do it without any outside distractions. Only you know what's best for you, what makes you tick and also, what you really dislike. You could take some personality tests, but the easier way is to just write down the first couple of things that drive you and those that block you from activity. That way, you'll be able to determine your core motivational chargers, serving as the basis for your own life's path.

Avoid the past at all costs
Being fixated on the past is one of the worst approaches to being oneself. Instead of trying to be the person you were in some moment from the past, you should really focus on the future that lies ahead. Sure, we all have our own baggage that we need to carry through life, but guess what? Your past doesn't define you. Don't block yourself from growth and allow yourself to forgive past errors you're not so proud of.

Be honest to your best friend
No, I'm not talking about the friends that surround you. I'm talking about your best friend you'll ever had - You. Don't be afraid to look deep inside your soul, discover the things you wanted to hide and make peace with them. We're all imperfect human beings, you know? We all have our flaws and stuff we'd rather hide to the darkest corners of our minds. But in order to grow you have to dig them up, acknowledge them as a part of your persona and accept the fact that you're not perfect.
Treat yourself
When you've embraced your flaws, start treating yourself in the same kind, thoughtful, and respectful manner that you treat other people you care about. Give yourself a High Five, whenever possible. Value the most important thing in life, yourself. Even if others put you down, don't trust them, believe in yourself. Why? Because you're your best friend and the only one you should really trust.
Here you go, a few simple ways to discover the real you. Although you have to treat others in a respectful manner, it's your opinion that counts. Remember, you're the one who is closest to you. You're your best friend and that's why you're the only one who can be true to yourself, regardless of what others say or think about you.
