Cardinal Innovations Healthcare Solutions has named Nicole McKinney as the regional executive director of its Mecklenburg operations center.
Cardinal Innovations is North Carolina’s largest Medicaid managed-care organization.
Kannapolis-based Cardinal Innovations recently signed a contract with Mecklenburg County to oversee services related to mental health, substance abuse and disability care.
McKinney will focus on strategic planning for the Mecklenburg region, providing leadership and oversight for the local operations center — though a location is still to be determined.
Cardinal Innovations announced in late January that it is  searching for roughly 20,000 square feet of existing space for the operations center.
The Charlotte center will handle operations such as community relations and outreach for Mecklenburg County, including health fairs and community information sessions.
Cardinal hopes to have the location up and running this summer.
The managed-care organization also announced in January  it will add a nearly 26,000-square-foot service center at 10150 Mallard Creek Road. It is slated to open in the spring and bring 80 jobs to the region within five years.
McKinney has spent her career working in clinical and organizational development, including the human services and behavioral-health managed-care industry.
She holds a master’s degree in counseling psychology and a Ph.D. in industrial/organizational psychology.
McKinney most recently has served as the Cardinal Innovations network operations director. Before that, she was the clinical supervisor of Mecklenburg Area Mental Health’s MeckCARES.
In her new role, McKinney will maintain a network of health-care providers. She also will foster the development local partnerships to ensure behavioral health services are accessible to consumers and delivered with quality.
