Announcing BlogHer '14 Keynote Speaker: Jenny Lawson, The Bloggess By Elisa Camahort

I know we may all be distracted by the impending holidays (as am I, make no mistake) -- but we have such wonderful news, I hope you'll forgive this station break to announce (on the heels of unveiling our 10x10 Project earlier this week) another BlogHer '14 keynote speaker: Jenny Lawson, aka The Bloggess.

Jenny has been a blogger since 2006, and is the author of 2012 Let's Pretend This Never Happened. You may know that about her.

But did you know that Jenny began attending BlogHer conferences in 2007, and was one of the speakers at the very first BlogHer Community Keynote in 2008? And that she met her book agent at that very conference? And that she was one of the original hostesses of The People's Party? And that we built her a bathroom for the People's Party 2011? True story*.

What's also true is that Jenny is the embodiment of how far bloggers can go with a singular, unmistakable voice...and by staying true to it. I can think of few women in our space who manage to be as hilarious and as brave as Jenny on a regular, reliable basis.

We're proud to welcome Jenny to the keynote stage again...six years later...at BlogHer '14. Her second book, Furiously Happy, is due out before BlogHer '14, so the timing couldn't be better to check in and be a BIG (and friendly) stop on her book tour!

*I asked Jenny if she had a favorite BlogHer conference memory, and her answer goes to the heart of the bravery I reference above:

"I have severe anxiety disorder, and when I first started going to BlogHer I had much less access to treatment and medicine, so I spent most of the conference hiding in bathrooms. Eventually the bathrooms became the place to be, because so many of us were hiding in there. It was nice to finally realize I wasn't alone. Literally."
